"Lyfe Jennings"
Lyfe Jennings, once again, Wowed the crowd Saturday night, May 22, 2010 at Hampton Roads Afr’am Fest in Norfolk,Va. He originally was scheduled to perform on Friday but due to several cancelled flights by the airlines, the show was rescheduled for Saturday. Despite all, Lyfe proved to be the true artist that he is by giving VA exactly what they came there for, even while experiencing continuous issues with sound while on stage. After having his mic and the microphones of his background singers malfunction on several different occasions, Lyfe threw the mic behind him and finished his show by jumping on the speakers in front of him ,to be closer to his fans, clapping and amping the crowd. This man is a true performer and my absolute favorite artist to date. I was given the honors of operating the instant replay machine during his performance. What a lifetime experience! Lyfe was one of the only artist who signed autographs and took pictures with his fans after the show, showing that he really does appreciate his supporters.
T-Rex
BackStagePass spent the days before the show with Terrell T-Rex Simon, background singer for Jennings, getting to know the Lyfe of a background singer! To view video of our T-Rex experience click the link below: http://www.youtube.com/user/BackStagePass757#p/u/1/e7xLtfaAA9k

"West Ave"

Afr'Am Fest 2010 was caught by surprise with the dynamic performance by this group of talented young men out of Baltimore, Maryland.

Denedric "Nedric" Mc Cullough, age 17,  Chaz Carter, age 18, and Langston "Nells" Morris, age 19, make up the group West Ave. The performance included their rendition of “Poison” originally by Bell, Biv, DeVoe, Oh My God, by Usher, and two of their original songs titled, She could be the one, and Push.
They also performed dance routines to “How low can you go” by Ludacris and “ All the way turnt up” by Roscoe Dash.
Getting their start in church, the guys entertained individually for about 5 years before coming together 2 1/2 years ago to form the group.
A Few of their major upcoming performances include The Apollo Theatre on June 15th, 2010 and Baltimore Afr'Am Fest 2010 on June 18th, 2010 where they will be opening for artists such as T Pain, Mario, B.O.B, and Waka Flocka.

We encountered these young men saturday night  May 22, 2010 after their performance. One of the young stars was singing quietly as he walked down the hallway of the Sheraton hotel, catching our attention. After complimenting him on his voice, he then told us that they were the performing group from earlier in the day at Afr'Am. All three members came together to give us a sample of " West Ave." . Along with us was background singer for Lyfe Jennings, Terrell  "T Rex" Simon, who in turn phoned Lyfe Jennings who was also in the hotel to tell him about the Trio. By midnight, Lyfe Jennings was also getting to experience "West Ave" in lobby of The Sheraton Hotel.

Z104 presents Trey Songz

Z104 hosted an exclusive meet and greet early Monday afternoon with R & B artist Trey Songz . In attendance also included a few lucky radio listeners who gained entry by winning passes via texting or being the lucky caller. Outside the studio was a group of Trey Songz greatest fans who simply just wanted to catch a glimpse of him. Unfortunately management did not allow us to video or photograph indoors due to them having someone already on hand to do this for the station exclusively. They were however very pleasant, especially Shaggy who actually greeted me with a Happy Hug & took the time out to sit and talk to us about the site. Despite the fact, Back Stage Pass did not give up and we were able to get some great shots outside of the studio.
We caught Trey Songz as he attempted to make his entry into the back door of the studio and the paparrazzi in me got him to pose for a few shots before entering. Could u believe that I did not have my lens on tight and none of the shots came out.
Never the less, Z104 was nice enough to open the blinds to the studio window allowing me to still get some great shots. It seemed that they were having a real blast on the other side of the glass but to me the brightest moments came each time i was able to distract Trey Songz enough to get some face forward shots.
To end the event we also caught up with him as he was leaving the studio and even though it was raining he rolled the window down far enough for me to get one more shot as well as sign a shirt for Back Stage Pass.

Kayla Lavender

According to Kayla Lavender, there is no greater Trey Songz fan than herself. Kayla had a few tearful moments as Trey Songz acknowledged her by coming close to the glass to show some appreciation for her support!
